Gift Giving
Giving gifts is one of my favorite things to do especially on certain occasions. It is also fun to give someone something when they are not expecting it. I am always looking around and picking things up for friends and family. I adore little trinkets or books but most especially charmed jewelry. Urban Outfitters came out with a gold anchor charm tucked into a pink envelope saying, "Only you can hold me down." Can it get any cuter?
Another local store of mine for gift hunting is Paper Source. A friend of mine is getting married and this book was perfect for her. It is the Fortune Telling Book for Brides revealing how to bring all things good to a wedding celebration.
One of my beloved haunts down the street is Aunt Sadie's. I think a candle is another perfect gift. Who doesn't love a candle? Aunt Sadie's is known for their array of hand-poured premium scented candles in scents from tomatoes to cabin fever. I love the Mom candle for Mother's Day.
Dogeared is another company for a personal touch. I have a younger sister and I love finding her special things that remind her of me. I am obsessed with these angel wing necklaces from Dogeared. Keep one half for yourself and one half for your sister. It takes you back to the days of splitting the hearts with your best friend, doesn't it?

Wild Child
As everyone knows, Nicole Richie, is one of my favorites. No matter what she is wearing, she always looks effortlessly chic. That is what style should be. She knows what works for her and adds those touches that make her look cool. She is always one step ahead. Love her.
Notice the colored jewelry standing out against the black and the staple leopard scarf.

Spring Patterns
I recently had the pleasure to ask celebrity stylist, Robert Verdi, what his favorite Spring trend is this year. His answer, patterned pants. I am always up for wearing anything different but this trend did not really cross my mind until now. What do you think? Here are some Spring 2010 looks from Organic, Marni, and Duro Olowu.

Boston's Best Colorist
For my StyleBoston shoot, I needed a refresher on my hair. I know exactly where to go to feel confident for the lens. Jeffrey Lyle Salon on Newbury Street opened back in September to rave reviews. After all, he has won Boston Magazine's best colorist for the past four years among many other awards. He truly is the best especially, if your a blonde. Lyle loves working with blondes, maybe he knows it is the secret to having more fun. His salon is simple yet sophisticated. It is "clean yet modern" as he states.
His team of five years includes two top professionals who have worked closely with Lyle and trained under his expertise. Lyle's dreams of owning his own salon finally came true after working on Newbury the past fifteen years and it is well worth the wait.
With the intimate setting and relaxing vibe, clients can forget the outside world and transform their look into something fresh."We are not about setting trends, but revealing the natural, beautiful and sophisticated hair that every woman is truly looking for - to us, that is beauty."
He is a master artist right here in Boston who is very sought after, so book ahead.
If you want to feel like a celebrity, head down to 135 Newbury St. Make sure to call first: 617.391.0551.

Nicole Richie takes the cat eye to new heights!
I absolutely fell in love with the unique cat eye makeup Nicole Richie chose for the 2010 Oscars. Nicole is always pushing the envelope with her style. This take on the cat eye was for sure Nicole's idea and I love how she takes her trademark eyeliner transforming it into Oscar- worthy sparkle.

Oscar Glory
The trends last night were not outrageous. In fact, there was no shock value. Many actresses played it safe, predictable, and boring. There were, however, a few exceptions. Metallics, neutrals, and full skirt gowns dominated the Red Carpet. The color blue was also a statement. There were also a few standouts and style icons who always shine.
Best Dressed
-Sarah Jessica Parker was definitely not conventional in her pale yellow Chanel Haute Couture gown. Let's face it, she can wear anything. The detailed silver embroidery around the collar and the jewelry pulled the look together to make it glamorous and modern. The Fred Leighton stacked bracelets were a cool, rocker touch to the awards.
-Demi Moore was stunning in her pink Atelier Versace tiered gown. It is easy to look so good when Rachel Zoe is your stylist. She added baubless and baubless of Van Cleef and Arpels jewelry which look so fresh using pearls as tassels and multi-rings.
-Diane Kruger is always outdoing herself and this award show was no exception. She chose Chanel Haute Couture and looked radiant in it. The detail of the dress was exquisite, tiered, and decadentt with the light pink against the black, floral detail. The best accessory was her Chanel Fine Jewelry black and white diamond -Camelia Nervure' hair brooch she choose to wear in the back of her simple bun.
-Carrie Mulligan is a new comer and her choice was daring but completely worked. Set in her Prada gown were Swarovski crystal embellishment were tiny forks, knives, watch gears and scissors. The cut of this dress was perfect starting with a sweetheart neckline to tight bodice opening to a full but short skirt. She paired her pixie cut with gorgeous Fred Leighton 19th Century cascading diamond pendant earrings. They took center stage against her short hair and simple makeup.

-Sandra Bullock went timeless and classic in a shimmering Marchesa gown with this unique floral embroidery at the top. The jewels were from her own Neil Lane collection. The now Oscar Winner for The Blind Side looked simple elegant and went for something bold with her makeup. The best accessory Bullock had was her beautiful fuchsia lipstick. The color was perfect for her skin and paired so well to her natural, yet sleek hair.

StyleBoston Shoot
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of filming my first on air segment for StyleBoston. It was filmed at H&M in Downtown Crossing for the Recessionista Challenge which required a contestant to pick the best, frugal outfit using Polyvore. The winner was Jaime Ganson, a fashion blogger from Brookline. I had the honor of choosing some chic yet affordable looks for her to air on the segment. Choosing the clothes was easy as it is my job. I love shopping at H&M because it is so affordable and have so many off the runway styles you can try. If you don't want to spend a fortune on a single trend, then H&M is where to go. There was so much to choose from as we are diving into spring. I finally narrowed it down to three outfits and when I met Jaime, I was able to pick the final two with her approval.
I was terrified to film at first but then realized we all seemed a bit nervous. Host, Miss Mass Lacey Wilson, showed up at 6ft tall to my 5ft frame and we were ready to go. Lacey assured me the segment was conversational and hearing that I relaxed. I could talk to a tree! The filming went smoothly and hopefully when it airs, I won't hide in embarrassment. Everyone was so wonderful and easy to work with. Thanks StyleBoston for the opportunity.

New York Fashion Week '10 Trends
Smoky eyes and nude lips took over the runways this past week in New York City but a main force was that of dewy cheeks. Nars was a evident on many runways such as Phillip Lim and Marc Jacobs. The main ingredient in each makeup bag was Nars The Multiple created by François Nars back in 1996 for an all over easy glow achieved with one product. To this day, this product makes universal beauty award lists every year. The best selling color "Orgasm" works on all skin tones and brings out that flush of lively color.
