At least twice a month I like to venture down to SOWA Open Market on Harrison Ave. It is a local artisan market that lasts about 4 months and features over a hundred artists' work along with antiques, food, and more. I had to keep cool seeing as it was 90 degrees out and paired a light dress with airy sandals. This whole look is under $100.
H&M dress ($12.95); AE sandals ($15 sale, 2 seasons ago); Club Monaco belt ($7 clearance, last season); Michael Kors vintage bag ($15 vintage shop) H&M feather necklace ($3.95)
H&M is a great resource for finding something basic on the cheap and for trying trends. It won't cost a lot for you to try something different. The dress can also be transitioned to wear for several occasions.
While at the market, I once again saw artist Josephine Plaszewski whom I adore. Her paintings are pastel dreams with subjects like a dog with a crown, birthday cakes, and cotton candy flowers. She definitely has a signature with her serene color palette and painting technique. Most interesting, Josephine is a green artist using recycled canvas, brushes, etc. I love her stacking teapot Alice in Wonderland lamps.
Check her out at Queen of Green Art.

Thanks for the SOWA tour. I remember meeting Josephine and loving her artwork! She is very talented.
I completely agree with you about H&M. I take trendy pieces, put them with my more expensive classics, and the look works. Love the AE sandals too. Great find!
WHERE did you get your vintage MK bag?
An antique store in Deerfield, NH. Such a rare find! $15!!!
