Tiffany and Co. Blue: A Story

See that famous blue box! I bet you do not know where the color originated from? To celebrate the 175th anniversary of Tiffany & Co., let's see where the infamous color comes from. Back in 1845, the color known as “Tiffany Blue” was selected by founder Charles Lewis Tiffany for the cover of Blue Book, Tiffany’s annual collection of exquisitely handcrafted jewels. Tiffany Blue, which may have been chosen because of the popularity of the turquoise gemstone in 19th-centruy jewelry, was later adopted for use on Tiffany shopping bags, as well as in advertising and other promotional materials.
Also, to celebrate the 175th anniversary, Tiffany & Co. has created a new metal, the new RUBEDO™ metal, a new jeweler’s metal that is the first such creation in Tiffany’s history and takes its place among the most beautiful metals in the world. This new metal marries the richness of gold, the brilliance of silver and the warmth of copper. RUBEDO is entering Boston-area Tiffany stores this month, a prefect new spring accessory!

Thank you Tiffany and Co. for the wonderful gift which I will definitely use!
